About Water, Technology and the General Outlook
Mankind is called upon to solve many environmental problems in the 21st century. First and foremost is the scarcity of freshwater. It represents an even greater problem than climate change, the destruction of rainforests and the overfishing of the oceans.
According to the United Nations, as early as 2025, about 2,7 billion people will suffer from great water shortages if consumption continues to rise at current levels and the world population really does grow from the current 6 to about 9 billion people by 2050.
The special exhibition „H2Over?“ is dedicated to this future challenge. Five visually striking exhibition islands with interesting productions, interactive game-stations and numerous exhibits – from water pipes used in Antiquity to high-tech water filtration systems – convey the topic in an arresting way and open it up to direct experience.
